We beauty pros insist on our clients using cuticle oil but more often than not we give clients general reasons but don't get into the underlying science. Now, there are a few reasons why we don't get into it... we don't have the time at the end of our appointment (when we actually think about it), we've said it before and don't feel the need to repeat it again, or simply... we weren't told why when we were trained. Well, we were told, but our educators didn't get into the nitty gritty... they maybe understood the USP's of that product, but not the science behind it. So this post is about giving the pros (and a few stray non-pros) a heads up as to why cuticle oil is so important.
As pros it is our responsibility to educate our clients about the services we provide them and products they are using. We might think that they won't be interested, but the truth is, if we can educate them then they will have a better understanding of why they should or shouldn't do certain things, which makes them more likely to
So why do we insist on our clients using it? What kind of cuticle oil should you be using? This post will (hopefully) enlighten you to the delights of cuticle oils and other useful bits of information about nails that you maybe didn't know....

So the general line from every nail tech, manicurist and beauty therapist is:
"Cuticle oil helps to keep your cuticles moisturised, nails conditioned and prevent lifting."
This is absolutely true. But HOW?
"Oils ain't Oils", or so they say - but actually it's true. Some cuticle oils work and other don't. These days it seems everyone is getting their nails done. It's an accessory to an outfit, it makes us feel better and, for some, getting a mani is a bit of time out away from the stresses of life.
Whatever the reasons, we spend our hard earned on having amazing talons and so we need to look after them. Think of them as a kind of investment - and investments need to be looked after.
On a purely selfish level, we nail techs don't want clients to ruin their nails because we work HARD on those babies! It stresses us out when clients come back with nails that have clearly been in a battle with the garden or the housework!
So lets get into the details of exactly WHY we want our clients to use oil and HOW it works....
